International Day of Happiness will be celebrated on 20th March, 2014, for the first time..

And later every year.

I wish to initiate  exploration of this term called 'happiness' in these posts on this blog along with presenting zentangle creations.

So, first let me present here my response to Diva's challenge no. 158. A duo tangle - Crescent Moon + Dancing Diva. I have chosen to create a ZIA here. Hope you like it.

And now let me build tha case for happiness. The Wikipedia says:

"The International Day of Happiness is celebrated throughout the world on 20 March. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly on 28 June 2012. Assembly Resolution A/RES/66/281 states in pertinent part:
Balloons of Happiness
The General Assembly,[…] Conscious that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal,[…] Recognizing also the need for a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes sustainable development, poverty eradication, happiness and the well-being of all peoples, Decides to proclaim 20 March the International Day of Happiness, Invites all Member States, organizations of the United Nations system and other international and regional organizations, as well as civil society, including non-governmental organizations and individuals, to observe the International Day of Happiness in an appropriate manner, including through education and public awareness-raising activities[…][1]"
How should we, the tanglers, promote happiness?
It would appear that consumerism and greed has over taken the real happiness in most of the countries. It may be a good idea to create a healthy discussion on this topic. I will be happy to have your views here.

  1. Your tile is so very different from your normal work, I keep looking at it.
And then 'happiness'; you are right in saying that real happiness has gone to greed and the thought that it can only be accomplished by: romantic love and stuff we buy.
I myself know that the happiest moment in my life were from different origin. A flower in spring, the feeling of wind in your face, a red threat a child gave me (see my story) and seeing young animals. Sometimes just a word from a stranger. So, let's keep trying to give some happiness to other beings with small gestures and words.
