The first half of the workshop had focused on the nature of doodling. We shall continue at this stage and deepen our practices to be able to become aware that we are able to let go the control over what gets drawn inside the boundaries of 9 cm by 9 cm space.<br />
<br />
We shall also continue with the alphabets but using them in tangle patterns.<br />

So, here is HW for day 2<br />

<b><span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Art Therapy - Doodles to Zentangle</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
3rd May, 2020 , 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (IST)<br />
My first online session on Google Meets for a diverse group of concerned citizen ( inspired by Biren Bhuta) from across India who have been observing a compassionate fast from 6 AM to 6 PM every Wednesday in empathy with the millions of migrant workers stuck on roads on way to their homes hundreds of Kilo Meters away. Corona pandemic caused lock down had suddenly moved away their 'cheese'.<br />
<br />
The condition of entry to my online workshop was, they don't have to pay me anything, but commit to contribute, whatever they can, for the cause of migrant workers after, and if, the workshop made an impact on them.<br />
<br />
The feedback received directly, as well as through Biren makes me believe that the workshop was very well received.<br />
<br />
<b><span style="color: red;">Here is the gist (in parts) of the contents leading to the Home Work no. 1:</span></b><br />
<b><br /></b>
1. Any change, imposed on you by environment, circumstances, or people who matter to you, but not of your liking, produces stress and anxiety in you. Some people may be able to cope with it, many may not.<br />
<br />
2. Art therapy, among others has been found to be very pleasant and effective. The major block, however, is that most of us believe that we can not draw/pain.<br />
<br />
3. 'Doodles to Zentangle' shatters this block, as every person who can hold a pen and can draw simple strokes like a dot, a straight line, a curved line and a loop can take off from naturally endowed doodling to beautifully created Zentangle process by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas of the USA.<br />
<br />
4. Being a Certified Zentangle Teacher under the creators qualifies me to offer this course.<br />
<br />
5. To make this art therapeutic, it is necessary to use this art such that it creates meditative state of mind.<br />
<br />
6. Osho has defined meditation as ' Non-judgemental witnessing'. Mind gets involved giving directions, and in judgement. Senses are door ways to witnessing. The need is to break the bridge between the two, or create a strategic partnership between the two. Both can happen only under the conscious state, and at will.<br />
<br />
7. Let us look at the partnership option. Watch this video -<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyHRliPsqlbvaiu81bgj6f2yzQWOJQ7BXQS2k0b_gvRJfWfCQyzVM7wBHgsevyI5nzbypd1vWFvunvN-OPCsg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
Questions to ask: Who is taking whom for a walk?<br />
<br />
The owner, through the drone would decide the territory and the length of time, and leave it to the dog to wander about anywhere within that time limit and the territory. A great partnership.<br />
<br />
8. Dog-Owner analogy on paper:<br />
A pen or pencil in your hand takes the role of the pet dog, and mind is the owner of the dog. Let the mind only decide the territory and time slot and then become just an observer (without judging), the pen or pencil moves on the paper creating spaces.<br />
<br />
<b><span style="color: red;">The Home Work 1</span></b><br />
<br />
A. Practice Dog and Owner parts on paper. You may even use newspaper for this practice. Begin with 10 seconds wandering on the space allocated by the mind (owner), and keep reducing down to just a second.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red; font-size: large;">10 seconds wandering</span></td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red; font-size: large;">1 second wandering</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Practice above for several iterations to get the mind becoming detached from the pen/pencil inside the territory created.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
B. The second exercise is to practice all the alphabets within small islands</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Alphabets</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>

<b><span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Please see the previous 4 posts to get complete understanding so far.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Lesson 2</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
Now that we have learnt about transiting from doodles to Zentangle, Let us begin practicing Zentangle to beat the stresses.<br />
<br />
The process is really very simple.<br />
1. Build a partnership between your conscious mind in the role of an owner of a pet dog, and nearly the unconscious mind in the role of the pet dog. The conscious mind (the owner) creates the boundaries on the paper, and creates with the impromptu involvement of the nearly unconscious mind(the pet) the frame and the strings so that 4 to 6 spaces/segments are created.<br />
<br />
I suggest, practice this part rigorously, though looks very simple.<br />
<br />
2. Now, all you have to do is fill up the spaces using the structured patterns called 'Tangles' as deconstructed by the creators of Zentangle method as well as thousands of the practitioners and Certified Zentangle teachers world over. Over 10,000 tangles must be floating around on the internet.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>What is a 'tangle'?</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>
A tangle is a simplified repeatable structured pattern deconstructed from the very many patterns existing in the nature, or in man made constructions or prints. Combination of the very basic four or five elements makes up a tangle pattern. These elements, I call them as alphabets of Zentangle, can be drawn by anybody who can hold a pen firmly, without much of formal training. These alphabets are,<br />
1. A dot.<br />
2. A straight line, short, medium or long, and horizontal, vertical or even slant at any angle.<br />
3. A curved line, clockwise<br />
4. A curved line, anticlockwise, and<br />
5. An island or a closed loop(of any regular or irregular shape)<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Eh_vaTphswA/XnuXozt9PGI/AAAAAAAALoE/XhfpD5QM010NxzonM4sLNXjKrvYQNW3CgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1155" data-original-width="1252" height="295" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Eh_vaTphswA/XnuXozt9PGI/AAAAAAAALoE/XhfpD5QM010NxzonM4sLNXjKrvYQNW3CgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B8.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Alphabets of <span style="font-size: 12.8px;">Zentangle</span></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
As there are only 26 alphabets in the English language, but millions of words can be created using them, the above 5 alphabets of Zentangle can create thousands of patterns.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">You may like to check out a website for hundreds of tangles, www.tanglepatterns.com.</span><br />
<span style="color: red;">You may also explore my videos on Youtube under the title, 'ABC of Zentangle' to get video lessons on nearly 70 + tangle patterns. </span><br />
<br />
You need to learn these patterns and store them in a part of your brain from where, the unconscious mind can retrieve it without the involvement of is conscious side. Trust me, most of the patterns can be learnt within 10 minutes each. But practicing them for a while alone can put them into your memory from where you can retrieve them smoothly.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Exercise 3</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">It's exercise time now.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Learn the tangles demonstrated in my video ABC of Zentangle A</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/JADFHFCnPNo/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/JADFHFCnPNo?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Create your own tiles using all the learning from the Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 so far, and get going on the path of creating unique pieces of abstract art while experiencing the meditative state of mind which will give you instant relaxation from your anxieties, and if you practice Zentangle daily for about 20 to 30 minutes, over a period you will start observing changes in your behaviour. You may become more patient,less angry,more compassionate etc.etc.</div>

<span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><b>Lesson 1 contd...</b></span><br />
<br />
Here is my completed tile.<br />
<br />
You will see that the 4 segments have been filled up using some simple patterns which by themselves carry no apparent meaning to our minds. And hence, the mind remained focussed on what interesting outcome would emerge!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Du1N50AvV8c/XnjkqWDn-8I/AAAAAAAALnU/wPcqhY_cKggejzHfuWWFX2s2kfYxFGMQwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="773" data-original-width="798" height="308" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Du1N50AvV8c/XnjkqWDn-8I/AAAAAAAALnU/wPcqhY_cKggejzHfuWWFX2s2kfYxFGMQwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B6.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Blank tile</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Did your mind even imagine what would be the end result? And what if I had used these patterns in different segments, other than what I have done? Interesting, isn't it?<br />
<br />
<span id="goog_1089198197"></span><span id="goog_1089198198"></span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zam9Mkx-w2o/XnjkZClp2vI/AAAAAAAALnM/_NByWiCUAgsKTcQUTNLVjR6YIg6s0WevwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="773" data-original-width="802" height="307" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zam9Mkx-w2o/XnjkZClp2vI/AAAAAAAALnM/_NByWiCUAgsKTcQUTNLVjR6YIg6s0WevwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B7.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Tangled up tile</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So, do you see that there is a very big difference between doodles and Zentangle?<br />
<span style="color: red; font-size: large; font-weight: bold;">Zentangle: </span><br />
<div>
Zentangle is a process of causing to emerge a unique abstract art piece by filling up randomly doodled segments with 'meaningless, but,' structured patterns as they descend spontaneously on to the segments through pen. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You may perhaps need to read this definition as created by me to get the essence of Zentangle. Rick and Maria do have their official definition, and I do believe, the meaning of both the definitions will be the same.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you have any questions, so far, please put them up here in the comments section. I will try and answer them to your satisfaction.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Tomorrow we shall have Lesson 2, learning about the 'Structured Patterns'</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Stay tuned.</div>

So, let us get back and continue exploring our<b><span style="color: red; font-size: large;"> Lesson 1</span></b><br />
<br />
I hope you have practiced enough of letting your pen move about freely in the boundaries you set. I would love to hear from you in the comments section all about your experiences of doodling.<br />
<br />
Did you experience that you can not go on and on letting your pen keep drawing those meaningless lines? At the same time, wasn't your mind curious to detect some 'known' shapes after completing the exercise 1?<br />
<br />
Let us try and understand what was happening.<br />
<br />
While being conscious, our mind behaves like a monkey. It keeps wandering about in time and space. However, the medium in which it can move about is all the memories of our informations, knowledge and experiences we have gathered since our childhood. So, those meaningless lines will fail to keep the mind with us for long. Hence it becomes necessary for us to engage the mind in some other activity before it gets bored with the first one.<br />
<br />
So, how about filling up the spaces/segments created by the criss crossing of the free hand line with some 'meaningless' patterns?<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UQ3CFcAUYVQ/Xnef71k4SfI/AAAAAAAALm0/Pi5Z55ug61cHKpSYDHDFIwhmLJvBO8btgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B51.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="990" data-original-width="955" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UQ3CFcAUYVQ/Xnef71k4SfI/AAAAAAAALm0/Pi5Z55ug61cHKpSYDHDFIwhmLJvBO8btgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B51.jpg" width="307" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">29 segments</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Just look at the above exhibit. There are 29 spaces/segments ! And they all are very small in size. Why not simplify it by creating just about 4 to 6 segments max? Such as the exhibit below?<br />
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1DUQUVYAdCw/XnekHzLdeGI/AAAAAAAALnA/hxAVrAwM3a0p9dpFuOS3cSBVYlkzUQTgACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="773" data-original-width="798" height="308" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1DUQUVYAdCw/XnekHzLdeGI/AAAAAAAALnA/hxAVrAwM3a0p9dpFuOS3cSBVYlkzUQTgACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B6.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">4 segments</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Now this is doable.4 different patterns can be filled up in these 4 segments, and lo! here is your first Zentangle art! You will see tomorrow the filled in art. But, for today, you must practice as asked in exercise 2 below.<br />
<div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><b>Exercise 2</b></span><br />
Today, you must practice creating a few 'tiles' of about 3 and a half inch square spaces with free hand lines we call as 'string' in Zentangle vocabulary, so that 4 to 6 segments are created.<br />
<br />
Use a pencil in creating the boundary (we call it 'frame' in Zentangle), as well as the string. Do not spend more than 10 seconds in creating strings, and GO rather SLOW in preparing your tiles.<br />
<br />
<b>Tomorrow we shall learn the alphabets of Zentangle, and take the lesson forward.</b><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<b><span style="color: red; font-size: x-large;">You may like to go through the previous post also on this subject.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: red; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: red; font-size: x-large;">Doodles to Zentangle, take a conscious leap.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Doodling </span></b>is a natural phenomenon. We all doodle. Recall your school/college notebooks' last pages...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
And even today, doesn't your pen/pencil start scribbling on the back of an envelope, or any scrap piece of paper when you are talking someone on your phone? A sure shot example would be to recall your purchase process of a ball point pen. After selecting the pen of your choice, and before making the payment you <b>scribble</b> on paper. This is also an act of doodling.<br />
<br />
The teachers during our school days, for some strange reasons, discouraged us from doodling. We had to do it hidingly, therefore the last pages. But, now the research has proven that doodling act actually creates focus in our mind. That is, if you are on phone, and doodling, you will concentrate on the conversation you are having on phone! So, the act of doodling suddenly becomes very beneficial. You can improve your concentration/focus, simply by doodling.<br />
<br />
But, there is a problem. Doodling is an unconscious process. Hence, you can not harness the benefits at will.<br />
<br />
<b style="font-size: x-large;">Zentangle</b> process was created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas of USA which converts the unconscious and secondary act of doodle into a conscious and primary process retaining the benefit of creating concentration. And because it is a conscious process, you will enjoy it.<br />
<br />
As a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT for short) from the batch no. 09, I would like to offer a few simple lessons to take you from doodling to Zentangle.<br />
<br />
All you need is a drawing book or some blank sheets of paper and a black ink gel pen, Please understand, these are not the officially recommended materials. What I am proposing is for lay tanglers with a limited purpose of beating the stress. Once you sufficiently get interested in Zentangle method, you must learn it under a CZT in your area.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><b>Lesson 1: DOODLING/SCRIBBLING</b></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><b>Exercise 1</b></span><br />
Please understand, when you doodle, or scribble, what you scribble or doodle is meaningless. The process of doing so is of importance.<br />
<br />
So, open a fresh page, and <b>LET YOUR PEN TAKE YOU FOR A WALK ON THIS PAPER</b>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q6ay2d4HhGY/XnY0txeglFI/AAAAAAAALlk/Udn13IGD_xsd921DJZyuwkyVfgo-TgdPwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG-4481.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1105" data-original-width="1600" height="221" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q6ay2d4HhGY/XnY0txeglFI/AAAAAAAALlk/Udn13IGD_xsd921DJZyuwkyVfgo-TgdPwCEwYBhgL/s320/IMG-4481.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">My drawing book</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zK1nsLuLk1A/XnY7m9ErshI/AAAAAAAALl0/D80lU_UbKAE6BYffI5XKJA-_Cvsy4iP_QCEwYBhgL/s1600/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="915" data-original-width="770" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zK1nsLuLk1A/XnY7m9ErshI/AAAAAAAALl0/D80lU_UbKAE6BYffI5XKJA-_Cvsy4iP_QCEwYBhgL/s320/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B2.png" width="268" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Pen taking me for a ride</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Please note that the pen taking me for a ride means my mind does not interfere with the pen directing it in terms of space or time.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But, since we are conscious about what we are doing, we have to learn to remain in the close vicinity of the dividing line between consciousness and unconsciousness. So let us apply the <b>'taking your dog for a walk' syndrome. </b>Those of you who have pet dogs will understand it easily that most part of the process, your dog takes you for a walk. You as an owner only decide the boundaries of time and space!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
.I fixed up a boundary of 3 and a half inch square, and time of 10 seconds and let go of my pen to get as under:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yymUM-TyGfg/XnZIaQXH-GI/AAAAAAAALmY/I6TZ96_U2y4qgxO9c6wOtzh1GCYhPRTowCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B31.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="955" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yymUM-TyGfg/XnZIaQXH-GI/AAAAAAAALmY/I6TZ96_U2y4qgxO9c6wOtzh1GCYhPRTowCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B31.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, in the similar manner, you may fix the boundary of space in your drawing book, and the time of a few seconds in which you would allow the pen in your hand to freely move about.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I enjoyed letting go of my pen, and so can you. May be you can fill several pages, and if you do not want to waste good paper, use your newspapers and practice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NlurAmGwL60/XnZMuUFFCeI/AAAAAAAALmk/il2IWsuv1BwwDdhV2RHRhRzLL9wZpEVlwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B41.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="772" data-original-width="866" height="285" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NlurAmGwL60/XnZMuUFFCeI/AAAAAAAALmk/il2IWsuv1BwwDdhV2RHRhRzLL9wZpEVlwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/D%2Bto%2BZ%2B41.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, spend time interpreting various shapes that may have emerged in each one of your doodles. I am seeing a possible shape of 'Lord Ganesha (Elephant headed Hindu God) in my first doodle on white paper above.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do these exercises with your family members at home, and take their pictures and post them on my facebook with your interpretations.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We shall move forward in further Exercises under Lesson 1 further tomorrow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Till then, </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Covid19 certainly requires us all to strictly follow the recommendations by W H O and other specialists, stay home and avoid getting into crowds. Beyond this we can not do anything at this juncture. So, why get into worry mode? Easier said than done, right? Because, we do not have too many options for spending our 'extra' time at hand during the sort of lock down conditions.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I propose to suggest a couple of activities here.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Those of you who know Zentangle method, will also know that it is one of the most enjoyable, and very effective ways of remaining in the present moment, creating almost meditative state of mind. And, meditative state of mind is one of the best ways to keep anxieties away. <b>So, practice Zentangle.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For those who do not know what is Zentangle, or are not much exposed to this wonderful meditative art form, I propose here a few pre-lessons to take you from Doodling to Zentangle, with some simple daily exercises that can keep you away from anxiety. The forst lesson will be put up in the next few hours. Do give your affirmations in the comments section below.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Prepare a list of people who have done some good to you in the last 7 days without any expectations from you whatsoever. If you can extend this list to the whole last month, even better. I will tell you further activities on this tomorrow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With kindness and compassion for all,</div>

<span style="color: red;"><b>Tributes to the acclaimed artists through Zentangle Method.</b></span><br />
<br />
As a young man in my Twenties, some 40 years ago, I got fascinated by the then Art scenario in my country, India. Recently I tumbled upon my scrapbook of those days with Newspaper and magazine cuttings of the paintings of the acclaimed artists of that period. I must say, I was extremely pleased.<br />
<br />
Fast forwarding to today, as a 'Zentangle artist (proclaimed by the media)', and a CZT, an interesting thought crossed my mind. Why not offer tributes to those artists by using tranzending method ? In other words, merge Zentangle and ZIA...?<br />
<br />
Here is my first experiment highlighting part of a painting by an artist Mr Naren Panchal. Original, and the experiment are presented here for your embellishment..<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had written this poem some 40 odd years ago. The context, if explained, may help in appreciating the content. The country was reeling under an Emergency rule, and the over zealous family planning program was on in some parts of the country. Under such a background, an eighth child arrives in a family.....Read on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Frugality,</div>

Self imposed austerity</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
demanded sacrifice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did not mind,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
though reluctantly, for</div>

when you brought in</div>
